Items you will need to create the perfect straight hair..
1. Separate shampoo and conditioner
2. A Hairdryer
3. Straightners ( GHD’s are fantastic but Toni & Guy also do a very good range which are fairly cheaply priced )
4. Serum – John Frieda FrizzEase is very good
Top Tips on achieving straight hair…
1. Wash your hair thoroughly using separate shampoo and conditioner. Having said that, do try to make sure they are the same make and for the same hair type, ie, dry/greasy hair. Making sure you hair is washed will eliminate any of the greases which makes your hair more flexible and less easy to straighten. Using a shampoo for heat styled hair does help with the condition of your hair.
2. Use a hairdryer to take all the moisture out. As with tip 1, moisture in your hair will make it heavier leading to straightening being harder It helps if you try and blow dry your hair as straight as possible with the hairdryer before using the straighteners as this gives your hair a good head start. By this time your hair should be quite glossy.
3. Section your hair. When your hair is fully dry, section it so that your are only straightening a chunk at a time. I have fairly thick shoulder length hair and I section mine into about 5.
4. Only straighten 1 section at a time. It is easiest to start from the back, underneath, and work your way to the outside of your hair. Start at the root or as near to the top of your head as you feel comfortable and straighten your hair downwards. Make sure your straighteners are HOT. The hotter the better but be careful not to burn your fingers.
5. When you have done all your sections, give it an overall straighten to create the overall affect that you want. Some like to flick the ends out, others prefer it to be dead straight all the way down.
6. When you have finished you need to apply a serum. Not only does this settle the hair and make it less static but it also give the hair more shine. Do not use to much though as it can make the hair look greasy. You only need a pea sized amount in your hand, rub it round the palms of your hands then apply to the hair in a downwards motion. If you have layers in your hair you could also apply some wax to the ends of the layers to give it a more choppier look.
7. Slip on that party dress and party make up and go and have yourself a good time!!!

Therapeutic grade essential oils hold the promise for a great many people of stimulating the growth of bountiful healthy hair. Whether one is regrowing hair after hair loss, preventing the loss of hair, or just looking to make their hair more beautiful and lustrous than ever, essential oils and the carrier oils that comprise therapeutic aromatherapy formulas are very much worth investigating. We’ll first look at how and why you “build” your recipe, and conclude with a couple excellent formulations.
So What Essential Oils Have The Greatest Potential To Stimulate Hair Growth?
Many essential oils have found a place in today’s ultra-high end skin and hair products, often listed as “botanical extracts”. The active essential oils will generally fall into one of these categories: Stimulating, which enhance the “throughput” of the follicles — increasing their metabolic rate, and thus hair growth. Then there’s Nutrient Providing: several essential oils have a deep reddish or orange color, indicating a high concentration of growth promoting vitamins and vitamin-like compounds. Finally, the all-important Balancing oils create the optimum environment for the healthiest skin, follicles and hair, potentially moving out-of-balance conditions (over-oily, over-dry, or even hormone-deficient) to healthier states.
Choosing Essential Oils for Scalp Stimulation
We call them “stimulating” essential oils because they manage to signal the cells in the dermis to increase their metabolism. This means the follicles may become more active at growing new hair. This is the result of these specific oils containing natural “ketones”, chemicals with a “growth stimulating” type of signal. Rosemary Verbenone (a very specific type of Rosemary essential oil) and “Common” or “Dalmatian” Sage are the two most commonly used oils for stimulating hair growth. Of all the oils discussed here, Sage is the one that must be used by a limited population: it should not be used by pregnant or nursing mothers. Use at one percent or less in your total formula (these concentrations will be explained later with the recipes).
Getting Some Vitamins to the Hair Follicles
There are certain vitamins and vitamin-like compounds known to stimulate hair growth. Like the pharmaceutical preparation “Retin A” contains something similar to vitamin A (and does stimulate hair growth for some men), Carrot and Sea Buckthorn essential oils contain similar compounds. These are actually found as CO2 extracts, found in the same category as essential oils in stores. These oils are often used between 1 and 2 percent concentrations.
A Few Oils for Maximum Overall Health
Many, many people have either over-dry or over-oily scalp conditions which wreak havoc on hair growth. Balance is what’s needed here, and here’s the oils to do it. Lavender is the most widely used “balancing” oil, that has a wealth of therapeutic effects. If you do not have an outstanding skin condition that really needs clearing up, add a little Lavender to your blend — it is thought to really tie all the components together to help them work most effectively. If you’ve got an over-oily condition, a little Myrtle essential oil is thought to do the trick. It’s cleansing and balancing at the same time, restoring sebaceous output to proper levels. Finally, for mature women, be sure to use a little Clary Sage, thought to restore cellular estrogen levels to their optimum for the most beautiful skin and hair.
Your Formulation’s Foundation: The “Carrier” Oils
Once you’re essential oils are selected, you can create your own oil treatment formula by adding them to one or more carrier oils. The most popular carrier oils for hair care are: Jojoba, primarily used for moisturizing and giving hair a wonderful luster. Virgin coconut, while needing to be gently melted first to blend with other carriers, is fast becoming one of the most highly-praised therapeutic carrier oils. It is thought to have a very positive effect on hair loss all by itself, and like jojoba, will also result in wonderful hair texture. Evening Primrose is a very important carrier, offering essential fatty acids that we may easily be deficient in. This is best used by mature women, and also where the scalp is generally irritated. Hemp may also be used here. Finally, another very therapeutic carrier oil is Rosehip seed. It, like the nutritive essential oils, has vitamin-like compounds in it that have been shown in studies to promote youthful skin development. While it has not been as extensively researched for hair growth, there’s no reason to think it shouldn’t have as profound an effect on the scalp and follicles.
Getting Down To Business: Mixing Your Hair Growth Elixir!
Sometimes people are a little intimidated by mixing their own essential oil formula, but it’s really much easier than even baking cookies. Let’s describe how to make 1 ounce of hair stimulating blend, and then you can easily multiply the values to make larger amounts. This is best done in a 1 ounce empty dropper bottle, but again, you can start with a larger one if you like. To make the base, fill the bottle most of the way with your carriers. If you’re using using more than one carrier, estimating equal parts of each is fine. Make sure you leave a little room at the top for the essential oils! So, for each 1% of an essential oil, just add 8 drops of that oil to your bottle. Using 1% Rosemary? Add 8 drops. 2% Lavender, 16 drops. 1/2% Sage? 4 drops. To Make 2 ounces of final blend, just double these numbers — to make 4 ounces, multiply them by 4, and so on.
Great Recipes to Get You Started
Here’s two great recipes. For men, to make 4 ounces (which should last 2 to 4 months): To a base of equal parts Rosehip Seed, Hempseed and Coconut oils, add 32 drops Sage (Dalmatian or Common), 64 drops Carrot Root (also called Helio-Carrot), and 32 drops Lavender. For women, to the same base, add 32 drops Rosemary Verbenone, 64 drops Sea Buckthorn, 32 drops Lavender, and 32 drops Myrtle. Feel free to adjust as you see fit — using your intuition is an excellent means of customizing your recipe.
Now you can lightly swirl or invert your mixture until you feel it’s blended. Don’t shake it if you can avoid it, as it’s not such a good idea to introduce air into your oils too much (it can shorten the shelf life — which, by the way, should be about six months if kept in a cool, dark spot). The most effective oil treatment program is to first shampoo your hair, or at least moisten your scalp with warm water. This opens the pores and increases absorption of the oils. Then using an eye-dropper, distribute 1 to 2 droppers-full around your scalp and massage the oil in. Wrapping your head in a warm moist towel for the next 20 minutes to an hour can maximize absorption, and/or you can sleep with it on your scalp. And there you have it! A simple, effective means of supporting hair growth with the therapeutic potentials of essential oils.
The aggravation of dealing with flat hair is unfortunately a situation that some people have to deal with on a daily basis. However, if you are one that suffers from flat tresses, you do not have to live like this anymore! Here are some easy solutions that can help you deal with your flat, lifeless hair, giving you beautifully shiny and full locks that you make you proud to walk out of your house and face the world!

No matter what type of hair you have whether it is short, long or mid-length, you too can endure flat hair for many different reasons. If your hair is not wavy, curly, or frizzy, you have more likely than not experienced flatness at one time or another. Try to pay close attention to the way that you are wearing your hair. Sometimes your daily routine can cause your hair to be flatter than normal. Wearing hats often and sleeping on wet hair are both ways that can cause flat hair. Be sure to dry your hair before you sleep, and if you do want to wear a hat, wait until your hair is completely dry before putting one on.
The best way to deal with flat hair is to use the products that are intended to add volume to your hair. A root volume serum is a product that is easy to apply and that does wonders for any hair type, and any hair length. Volume serums can easily be found in most general stores, as well as in salons and hair-care studios. Be sure to look for the section of hair products that is customized for your specific hair type. A good root volume serum often comes with a nozzle attached to it. For flat hair, the best way to use this type of serum is to place the nozzle against the roots of your hair and apply directly. With your fingers or a hair pick, gently scrunch the serum into your hair, distributing evenly. Once the serum is applied to your hair’s roots, it begins to work to add volume and shine to your hair. Good hair volume serum will gradually lift and plump the roots of your hair, allowing your hair to pull off a fuller and thicker look.
An old fashioned, old-wives tale is another tactic that works well to fight flat, lifeless hair. When combing out your hair, try using the comb first on the top of your hair, and then flip your head over so that your hair falls upside down in front of your face. Combing your hair from underneath is a great strategy to add intense volume to your hair. Blow drying your hair in this position also helps to add volume and thickness.
A lot of hair flatness has to do with what you do to your hair. Many products are meant to cut back on frizz, make your hair smoother, or even make your hair shinier and healthier. The problem is that hair products can be heavy, and when they weigh down your hair, they actually make it harder to have hair that does not appear flat. Therefore, one of the best ways to make your hair less flat is to cut back on the products that you put into it. See if you can choose one single product to use in your hair to cut down on frizz and to make it shiny, and then do not use any others to see the results. Also, apply the product sparingly. Using too much product is one of the easiest ways to make hair flat.
Finally, pay close attention to the way that you are using hairspray. As you spray your hair in place, do not spray from the top down, or even from the back. Both of these methods will make your hair flat by weighing it down. A great way to make sure that your style sticks without becoming flat is to spray hairspray onto your fingers and then run your fingers through your hair. Start beneath your hair and pull your fingers outward and upward for a clean, styled, full head of beautiful hair. This will allow the hairspray to get into your hair, without flattening your hair at the same time.
Dealing with flat hair is something that might end up being part of your daily routine. However, with these great tips and tricks, you will find that you can banish flat hair and have the hairstyle of your dreams. A minor change or two in your process of getting ready can help you maintain hair that is more bouncy, and easier to work with.

Laser treatment is an FDA approved non-invasive approach to permanent reduction of facial and body hair.
Long term studies in the U.S. and Europe have shown the technology to be effective and safe when done by experienced professionals. It is a convenient way to remove unwanted hair without shaving, waxing, or electrolysis.
Women most often treat the lip and chin, under arms, bikini line, and legs. Men usually treat the back, shoulders, and upper arms.
Dark pigment (melanin) in the hair attracts and absorbs the energy of the light emitted by the laser. In a fraction of a second, the absorbed laser energy is transformed into heat, destroying the hair follicle, without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue.
A certain percentage of the follicles are instantaneously and permanently disabled with each treatment. The process takes from several minutes to several hours, depending on the area of the body involved.
Hair grows in three phases. The growth phase, the mature phase and the dormant phase. The laser affects hair follicles only in the growth phase. Because of this, more than one treatment is necessary to disable all hair follicles. Treatments are done 4 to 6 weeks apart, in order to treat hair follicles in the growth phase. Usually 3-5 treatments are necessary to treat all hair follicles.
Over time, skin will grow new hair from follicles that have never been active before. This is common due to a variety of reasons, such as hormonal changes, aging, maturation, etc. If you experience re-growth, you will notice the texture of the hair is fine and lighter in color. After you have successfully been treated for hair reduction, you may require an occasional maintenance session to eliminate the new hair.
Since it is the pigment in the hair that absorbs the laser energy, darker hair will absorb more energy. Thicker hair will absorb more energy, as well. Thus, the perfect patient for laser hair reduction is fair skinned and has dark hair. Patients with very light, blonde, or gray hair are not good candidates for this treatment. This is why it is a good idea to get rid of unwanted hair before it turns grey!
In darker skin types, or tanned skin, hyper-pigmentation may occur. Hyper-pigmentation is a response of your normal pigment calls to laser stimulation, is basically a dark tan, in a very localized area. Fortunately, it is temporary and will fade over time. If you are tanned however, it is best if you wait 4 weeks for your tan to fade, to minimize the chances for hyper-pigmentation.
The laser used by many surgeons is known as the Gentlase Plus. It is one of the only laser system available with a dynamic cooling device that sprays cryogen onto the skin. The cryogen cools the upper skin layers and protects even the most delicate skin while dramatically reducing discomfort. Most patients say it is exceedingly less painful than waxing. Most patients also tolerate the treatment without difficulty.
Some patients have a low pain tolerance, and we provide a topical numbing cream for an economical fee, depending on the area being treated. You must arrive 20 minutes before your treatment time so we can apply the cream and let it work its magic!
After treatment, a low-dose steroid cream is applied to reduce any redness or swelling you might experience. You can purchase this over-the-counter cream in our office for a small fee. You should lightly apply the cream on the treated areas two times a day for several days after your laser treatment.
Some patients may consider taking 2 Tylenol, 30 to 60 minutes prior to their appointment, if they feel the extra pain control is necessary. Do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen (Motrin), as it could cause unnecessary bruising. When treating a large area, such as a back or chest, we also use ice packs during the treatment.
It is important to stay out of the sun for 4 weeks prior to laser treatments for hair removal. During this time, you should protect your skin with a sun-block with a SPF 30 or greater.
Do not tweeze, pluck, wax or use depilatory creams (Nair) 4 weeks before your treatments begin or during your treatment period. By removing the follicles in their growth phase, you will reduce the effectiveness of the laser. You may shave any area to be treated, as shaving does not remove the hair follicle.
If possible, shave the area to be treated before your treatment because shaving in the Spa is added into the billing time. If the targeted area is covered with longer hair, such as a man’s back or chest, come to the Spa with the longer hair untouched, and we will shave the hair to the optimal length at the time of the treatment.
Patients will likely experience a temporary slight reddening of the skin or localized swelling. You may feel like you have a bit of sunburn. Using an over-the-counter topical steroid cream is all you should need to remain comfortable.
Remember to protect the skin with a SPF 30 sun-block. You may wear moisturizer and makeup formulated for sensitive skin, as desired. You may immediately return to your regular activities. You may notice hair shedding from follicles for a few days to a week after treatment, this is normal.

1. Don’t wash your hair more than twice a week
2. Before you begin styling your hair make sure you’ve dried it. It should be only slightly damp, not wet.
3. To achieve a large volume dry your hair in the direction opposite to the growth.
4. The shampoo you’re using must not make too much foam – if it does it means that the detergent ingredients are too aggressive.
5. Douching your hair should last four times longer than washing it with shampoo.
6. Use the hairdryer as rare as you can, or at least use it on its lowest power.
7. Don’t brush your hair while it is wet, you can tear it up.
8. Self-massaging of the scalp is a great way to prevent stress and to reactivate the blood flow in the scalp.
9. Hair, dried with bowed head down, has a greater volume.
10. Do not neglect hair-spray, applied at a distance not less than 15 cm. Except for fixing hair style, it forms an invisible protective film around the hair and prevent its electrification.
